Oh Papa get summertime rolling with ‘Solatitude’

Get British Summertime rolling with ‘Solatitude’, a sunny Garage Soul tune from Sheffield’s own Oh Papa

Ah, British Summertime. There’s a special selection of songs suited for those sepia-tone evenings, such as Waterloo Sunset by The Kinks, ‘There She Goes’ by The La’s and now Oh Papa join the playlist with the sunny ‘Solatitude’, taken from their Debut EP ‘DOBRA’.

How I felt after hearing ‘Solatitude’

Oh Papa are a wonderfully understated band, clearly capable of a much larger sound given the drummer’s enthusiasm in the last minute of ‘Solatitude’, but Oh Papa opt for subtlety and warmth through woozy backing vocals and perky guitars with just enough crunch to get you out of bed in the morning. The lead vocals are as cuddly as a lazy Sunday, yet there’s a succinct energy to the tune with enough kick to ride with the likes of Garage Soul contemporaries White Denim.

Oh Papa‘s debut EP ‘DOBRA’ is certainly on spin this summer. Listen to ‘Solatitude’ here:
